Supergroups 2.1 More English Super Jewels of music right now...
Our next English 'Supergroup' truly is a unique, astounding, smooth and pitch perfect female vocalist whose music is also an incredibly large and deep breathe of fresh air. She is also incredibly lucky enough to have had one of the best pieces of quality sound recording and engineering we've heard so far this year. Originaly from Blackpool with a family history firmly rooted in music scince the 1940's, Phoenix Williams sense of timing and effortless voice control truly is quite a wonder - this is one voice that the whole world will be craving after once the word gets out and in our opinion she's far too good for the likes of Simon Cowell (...sorry Simon)!
Currently based in Brighton on the UK's south coast and regularly touring London and the South East, Phoenix is undoubtedly one of the brightest musical jewels we have discovered in the last twelve months. Her debut album ,entitled 'Wait and See' is available now from the following links with the beautifull and smooth vocal tones of 'Everythings Good' also available as a free download from the following links also ( ...this in itself is sheer musical generosity in the extreme!). I think it's fairly safe to assume that we think Phoenix Williams is a huge new vocal talent with some equaly huge songs expertly embedded on her debut album (how on earth she ever went unnoticed with a voice like that for the past five years is a complete mystery).
A big commendation must also be given to Robert White of The Milk And Honey Bandand Nick Swannell of Rockfish Music who helped to bring out some highly professional productions on their home studios...two more names to watch out for in their own rights as both musicians and sound engineers, producers etc...

Once upon a time, in a low level sprawling metropolis on the south coast of England, there was a part time shop assistant and a part time sandwich maker who, unbeknown to the rest of the world, were realy Part Time Heroes. By day they would pretend to be no one in particular, while at night they would perform the most amazing feats of musical accomplishment, combining ecclectic and fresh new jazz and soul in a whirlwind of sound that can overpower the most sceptical pairs of ears into turning away from the criminal elements of 'non - music' and toward their astounding array of sounds. One by one the musicians of this sprawling metropolis and beyond warmed to their heroic sounds and joined them in their quest to save humanity from from the 'utter pants' that masquerades as music in most english pubs and clubs.Their influences are too many to mention, but if you're a fan of old or new jazz with a twist of soul, blues, funk or even trance then you are going to love everything they do. We've featured the video for their 2006 track 'Realise' featuing Jono McCleary smouldering among his perfected vocals and there is plenty more where that came from once you follow the links....Currently touring extensively throughought the UK in both band and DJ modes, Part Time Heroes are Englands answer to the likes of Jazz-rock cornerstones Steely Dan ....and a pretty darned good answer they are too...
Funily enough, that very same sprawling metropolis has also managed to turf out another musical genius who just happens to be producing the very best Drum and Bass, Jungle and Breakbeat that has quite possibly ever been 'made in England'. Southamptons kings of Breakbeat are called 3:FLOW and their music has been likened to a very 'acidic Prodigy' ...but there is a much greater range and soundscope to 3:Flow that defies any comparrisons, and it also defies you not to get utterly immersed in it's intensity and start enjoying it even more intensly. We've included the track Recoil as a slight taster to ease you in to their world of immense sound . You can delve a lot further into their flow on the 3:FLOW MySpace page here.....
Another band rooted on Englands southern coast is The Cassini Divide...and after a year of composing and recording some of the most exciting Brit pop/rock songs of the current millenium they are now on the lookout for a drummer and synth player to take their threesome out of the studio and onto the road as a fivesome. This is a band who are all set to take on the world and once you hear their brilliant riffs, hooks and vocals you'll quickly understand why we think they're destined to be one of the biggest Brittish bands of the next decade.....
Here's a 'Superacoustic' currently based in London who has recently been perfecting his own personal treasure trove of sounds after years of travelling, busking, playing lead and rythum guitar for other peoples rock, blues or folk bands as well as countless sound and music making ventures that led to the placing many of those previous creations into TV and film scores throughout the UK, America and beyond... The name of this artist is Ged Flood. If the name rings a bell, then that may well be because we have already given Ged an Originality Award for his pioneering 'online' band that saw him partner with Jo Greenwood (-who only ever met once face to face and that was after recording online-) to create the epic 'Hey Jo' ep as 'Jo and the Flood'. This time we're highlighting Ged's own solo work which could quite well find itself picking up a number of awards in it's own right worldwide in the near future. Though born in Reading, England, Ged was lucky enough to have been born into a highly musical , creative, Irish family , which was both highly skilled and respected in traditional Irish and folk music circles - and that unique childhood , bathed and 'flooded' in such a wide array of skilled music, sound and influences was quickly soaked up by the young Ged to firmly carve out a future directed and steered by a deep love of all music. The ancient musical roots of Irish music (which are themselves one of the main foundational roots of 'Rock n Roll' and in turn, modern Rock , Pop and Country) were centred around three distinct styles or 'strains' of music, called the joyous, lamenting, and sleep strains. Ged's recent perfections , despite appearing at times to be lyricaly intertwined within lamentations are fantasticaly reversed in a magical musical assault that bursts out into the giant waves and breakers of the Joyous Strain. This truly is a skilled, exceptional and highly crafted perfected sound dancing with sharp and subtle words that quickly register to stir both the mind and emotions.
We've added two exceptional tracks from Ged entitled ' Kingdom Of Your Heart' and 'Still Love You' along with links to his sites and a place where you can buy these special collections...So remember this name... it's
